Mexico luxury dining and travel destination
Mexico City holds 642 of the 1871 venues in our guide, more than any other city. Restaurants make up most of that city total, with tasting menus and sommelier-led wine programmes in Polanco Chapultepec and Roma Norte, and cocktail bars in Juarez. Valle de Guadalupe’s venues are mainly restaurants, including rooms with Michelin stars and wine programmes. Ensenada adds restaurants and wineries. Oaxaca’s venues in our guide are restaurants, bars and hotels, and Santiago Matatlán’s venues are all wineries. On the coast, Tulum and the Riviera Maya have more hotels than restaurants in our guide, while Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos and Playa del Carmen have restaurants alongside hotels. In our guide, Mexico has 26 Michelin-starred restaurants and 28 Michelin stars in total. Wine Spectator awards are held by Animalón in Valle de Guadalupe, Le Chique in Puerto Morelos and Sud 777 in Jardines en la Montaña.
