Cossart Gordon is strongest when read through Madeira’s volcanic slopes and Atlantic climate rather than through a standard tasting-room lens. Founded in 1745 and now part of Madeira Wine Company, it carries rare historical weight in fortified wine, with Sercial, Verdelho, Bual, Malmsey and Terrantez showing how acidity, heat and long oxidative ageing define the category.
