Emmett Haley

Emmett Haley co-founded En Primeur Club with Austin Burgess in 2020. The publication takes its name from the wine world's en primeur — the moment a vintage is first offered — and is built to be where readers find a serious hotel, restaurant or wine producer first.

He comes to the page as a collector, not a trade professional. The cellar work is concentrated on Burgundy and Bordeaux: an allocation list built over years, and an en primeur campaign followed each spring as a futures buyer, where release prices are read against vintage and the auction record. On the visiting side, he has tasted on the ground in Napa, Sonoma, Willamette and Santa Barbara, in Tuscany, and in Australia. The wine voice on the site is written as a collector, for the kind of reader who is one too.

The dining and hotel record around the wine: 25 US states, 100+ cities, 100+ five-star hotels, 1,000+ restaurants, hundreds of leading bar programs, and 100+ Michelin stars eaten in person. A three-star Tokyo counter set against its Ginza neighbours; the cocktail rooms of London and New York against each other; smaller design-led hotels in Paris and Tokyo against the flag chains.

Every paragraph has to clear one test: would the reader still learn about the kitchen, the room, or the producer once the name is stripped. If not, it does not run.
