Alchemist restaurant in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Alchemist

Few restaurants in Europe ask as much of a guest as Alchemist. Set inside a former industrial space on Copenhagen's Refshaleøen peninsula, Rasmus Munk's project runs to 50 'impressions' across roughly seven hours, folding art installation, theatre, and ingredient-driven cooking into a single sitting. Two Michelin stars, a #8 ranking on the World's 50 Best list in 2024, and the #1 position on Opinionated About Dining's European ranking for two consecutive years place it in a tier with few peers.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Geranium restaurant in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Geranium

Denmark's only three-Michelin-star restaurant, Geranium occupies the eighth floor of Copenhagen's Parken stadium with a menu that runs approximately 80% plant-based across 20-plus courses. Chef Rasmus Kofoed, the sole chef to have won gold, silver, and bronze at the Bocuse d'Or, leads a program recognised by the World's 50 Best (#1, 2022) and La Liste (98pts, 2026). The wine list, selected by co-owner Søren Ledet, spans 6,085 selections across 22,900 bottles.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Marchal restaurant in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Marchal

Marchal holds a Michelin star inside Hotel d'Angleterre, Copenhagen's most storied grand hotel on Kongens Nytorv. Chef Jakob de Neergaard works a French-Nordic idiom that sits at a distinct remove from the city's New Nordic mainstream, placing Marchal among a small cohort of Copenhagen restaurants where classical technique and formal hospitality take precedence over foraging provenance. Ranked #180 in Europe by Opinionated About Dining (2025), it operates across three daily services, seven days a week.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Dragsholm Slot Gourmet restaurant in Hørve

Hørve, Denmark

Dragsholm Slot Gourmet

Dragsholm Slot Gourmet operates from a twelfth-century castle in rural Zealand, holding a Michelin star since at least 2024 and a La Liste score of 86.5 points in 2025. Chef Jeppe Foldager's creative menu draws directly from the surrounding landscape, with Michelin's own 'Expression of the Terroir' designation underscoring where the kitchen's priorities lie. At €€€€ pricing, it sits in Denmark's top tier of destination dining outside Copenhagen.

Hotel d'Angleterre Copenhagen hotel in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Hotel d'Angleterre Copenhagen

Few hotels in Northern Europe carry the address, age, and on-site credentials that Hotel d'Angleterre Copenhagen does. Operating from Kongens Nytorv since 1755, the property combines a Michelin-starred restaurant, a champagne bar with vintages from over 42 houses, and 92 rooms including 55 suites, all within walking distance of Nyhavn and the Royal Theatre. La Liste ranked it 94 points in 2026, placing it firmly in the upper tier of European grand hotels.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Hotel Sanders hotel in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Hotel Sanders

Housed in an 1869 Neoclassical building beside the Royal Danish Theatre, Hotel Sanders is a 54-room boutique property that reads as a private residence rather than a conventional hotel. Crushed velvets, Murano chandeliers, and commissioned artworks define the public spaces, while the Tata Cocktail Bar and glass-covered rooftop conservatory have established the property as a gathering point for Copenhagen's cultural crowd. Room rates start from approximately $372 per night.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Nobis Hotel Copenhagen hotel in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Nobis Hotel Copenhagen

A 1903 building that once housed the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music, Nobis Hotel Copenhagen now operates as one of the city's most architecturally coherent luxury properties. Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh's 2017 transformation layered warm Nordic modernism over the classical façade, producing 75 rooms designed to be lived in rather than photographed. La Liste placed it at 91.5 points in its 2026 Top Hotels ranking, with rates from $398 per night.

Copenhagen, Denmark
1 Hotel Copenhagen hotel in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

1 Hotel Copenhagen

Occupying a 1933 modernist building that once housed a department store and later the Hotel Skt Petri, 1 Hotel Copenhagen brings the American brand's sustainability-led aesthetic to Denmark's capital in a way that aligns naturally with local hygge sensibility. With 282 rooms, a Nordic restaurant called Fjora, the cocktail bar PÆRE, and a Bamford spa arriving in 2026, the property sits at the intersection of environmental discipline and low-key luxury.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Herman K hotel in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Herman K

Herman K occupies a considered address at Bremerholm 6 in central Copenhagen, placing it within walking distance of the city's canal district and its broader cluster of design-forward hospitality. The property sits inside a Copenhagen hotel scene that has shifted decisively toward architectural character and locally rooted identity over the past decade. Travelers who prioritize design coherence and central positioning will find it worth examining closely.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Hotel Bella Grande hotel in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Hotel Bella Grande

Hotel Bella Grande occupies a historic address on Vester Voldgade, the boulevard that traces Copenhagen's old city fortifications. Recognised in the Michelin Selected Hotels 2025 list, it sits within the concentrated tier of independently scaled Copenhagen properties that trade on architectural character over chain-standard uniformity. For travellers arriving in the Danish capital between autumn and spring, when the city's cultural calendar runs densest, its central position rewards on foot.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Hotel Kong Arthur hotel in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Hotel Kong Arthur

On the quiet side of Copenhagen's inner lakes, Hotel Kong Arthur occupies a 19th-century building on Nørre Søgade that sits apart from the city's more frenetic hotel corridors. The address places guests at a considered distance from Strøget's crowds while remaining within walking reach of Nørreport and the cultural quarter. For occasion stays, the lakeside setting and the building's period character give it a different register than the design-forward properties clustered around Vesterbro and the waterfront.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Hotel Ottilia - By Brøchner Hotels hotel in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Hotel Ottilia - By Brøchner Hotels

Hotel Ottilia occupies a converted 19th-century brewery building on Bryggernes Plads in Copenhagen's Vesterbro district, placing guests within walking distance of the city's most active food and design corridors. Part of the Brøchner Hotels group, it trades on the neighbourhood's industrial character rather than anonymous business-hotel polish. A practical and considered base for travelers who want proximity to the city's creative core without the rates of the harbour-front tier.

Tata Cocktail Bar bar in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Tata Cocktail Bar

Ranked 273rd in the Top 500 Bars global list for 2025, Tata Cocktail Bar on Tordenskjoldsgade operates as a fixture in Copenhagen's inner-city drinking scene. The address places it in the dense residential and commercial pocket south of Kongens Nytorv, where bars tend to serve a genuinely local crowd rather than a tourist circuit. It is the kind of place where the list earns recognition without the room feeling like it is performing for anyone.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Den Vandrette restaurant in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Den Vandrette

Den Vandrette is a natural wine bar on Copenhagen's harbour front that has earned consecutive top-two finishes on Star Wine List and a place on Opinionated About Dining's European casual rankings since 2023. Its Georgian-Nordic concept draws on the bar's own import portfolio, making the list less a selection than a working cellar translated directly to the table. Open Tuesday through Saturday evenings, it sits in a different register from the city's tasting-menu circuit entirely.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Bæst restaurant in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Bæst

Bæst occupies a specific and deliberate position in Copenhagen's dining scene: a neighbourhood pizzeria and salumeria in Nørrebro that applies fermentation and craft-sourcing principles to Italian-rooted food. Ranked #103 in Opinionated About Dining's Casual Europe list for 2024, it draws a regular crowd of locals and informed visitors. Chef Christian Puglisi's involvement grounds it in serious culinary lineage without the formality of his tasting-menu work.

Copenhagen, Denmark
Champagnekælderen bar in Copenhagen

Copenhagen, Denmark

Champagnekælderen

Champagnekælderen on Nørre Søgade has earned Star Wine List recognition three consecutive years, 2024, 2025, and 2026, placing it among Copenhagen's most consistently recognised wine destinations. The address, a short walk from the lakes, suits the kind of deliberate evening that calls for a serious list rather than a casual pour. For celebrations or milestone occasions, few wine bars in the Danish capital carry this level of documented wine credibility.
