Berlin, Germany
Berlin has 19 Michelin-starred restaurants in our guide, holding 25 Michelin stars in total, and 38 restaurants with exceptional wine programs. Starred kitchens often cook a tasting menu and keep a sommelier on an extensive list. Modern German fine dining, Asian-German cooking, and vegetable-led Austrian menus all sit in that tier, and the pours run from long conventional cellars to natural wine. Hyper-local German cooking and dessert-led sequences sit in that starred group as well. Mitte holds 174 venues in our guide, the largest neighborhood count, and several deep restaurant lists and wine bars sit there together. Kreuzberg carries a hyper-local German tasting menu and a Georgian wine bar. Charlottenburg holds a modern Italian restaurant with natural and biodynamic bottles and a Palatinate wine tavern pouring German wine by the glass. Wine bars across the city add natural-wine counters, German and Austrian lists, and qvevri-made Georgian bottles. Wine Spectator recognition covers five Best of Award of Excellence awards and two Award of Excellence awards citywide.
