Leclerc Briant began in Cumières in 1872 and moved to Épernay in 1955. Bertrand Leclerc began organic trials around 1960; the producer says its entire 14-hectare estate is now certified organic and biodynamic. The house also buys grapes from certified-organic or converting growers, so its estate area is not the whole source of every wine.
Plot wines and unusual aging
The current catalogue separates classic cuvées from single-vineyard wines such as La Croisette and specialties including Abyss. La Croisette comes from the Épernay plot of that name. Abyss is a Champagne release matured underwater; the house’s published examples have been submerged around 60 metres deep. These are distinct wines, not one standard house blend.
Visit by appointment
Leclerc Briant’s visitor site offers appointment-only tours at 67 chemin de la Chaude Ruelle in Épernay. Its description includes La Croisette, the presses, barrel cellars and vat rooms, with a tasting available. Contact the estate to confirm the visit format and wines for your date.
