About

Pierry is the center of Champagne Jean-Marc Sélèque, a family domaine whose 10 hectares extend across 48 plots in seven municipalities. That spread gives Jean-Marc Sélèque a range of soils to work with, from Boursault’s deep clay to the chalk of Vertus and the varied slopes of Pierry and Moussy.

From family vines to plot-by-plot winemaking

Henri Sélèque planted vines in Moussy and Pierry in the 1960s and marketed his first bottles in 1969. His son Richard expanded the vineyard holdings and modernized the cellar. Jean-Marc returned to the estate in 2008 after wine studies and work abroad; he now vinifies by plot and uses indigenous yeasts.

In the vineyard, the domaine says it is moving toward organic methods without certification. Practices inspired by biodynamics began in 2010, and some plowing is done by horse to avoid compacting the soil. Those distinctions matter: the estate describes a working approach, not a certified status.

Partition brings the plots together

Partition is composed of seven wines from seven selected plots, vinified in oak barrels. Rather than stand for a single site, it shows how the domaine builds a wine from distinct vineyard voices. To explore more of the area, see The Pierry experiences guide.
