Neptune Oyster restaurant in Boston, United States
About

Where Parisian bistro elegance meets New England's leading oysters, Neptune Oyster Boston has redefined intimate seafood dining since 2004, transforming a mere 37 seats in the North End into Boston's most coveted oyster destination. Founded by Kelli and Jeff Nace with inspiration drawn from classic Parisian oyster bars, Neptune Oyster emerged from Jeff's twelve-year tenure as beverage manager at the acclaimed Olives. Their vision crystallized into a timeless concept that marries French bistro sophistication with New Orleans oyster house conviviality, all anchored by New England's pristine coastal bounty. The restaurant has also earned four total awards.

The cuisine celebrates East Coast seafood through masterful technique and unwavering quality standards. Neptune's well-known raw bar showcases a dozen daily oyster selections, predominantly featuring Massachusetts treasures like Wellfleet, Island Creek, and Katama Bay varieties alongside carefully curated East and West Coast specimens. The restaurant's crown jewel remains its well-known lobster roll, available in both classic cold mayo and Connecticut-style hot butter preparations, consistently hailed as Boston's definitive version. Head chef John Ross guides the menu, which includes johnnycakes and seafood entrees alongside the raw bar.

Stepping through Neptune's etched glass entrance reveals a luminous interior of white subway tiles, polished marble surfaces, and cream-colored pressed-tin ceilings that transport diners to a Belle Époque Parisian brasserie. The intimate space features a marble bar with high stools, dark red leather banquettes, and nickel lamps casting warm light over mirrors displaying daily oyster selections. Jeff Nace's beverage expertise shines through a globally-inspired wine program emphasizing seafood-friendly selections, from South African Sauvignon Blanc to Italian Cinque Terre blends. The signature Prosecco-based mignonette offers a gentler alternative to traditional vinegar preparations, exemplifying the thoughtful innovation throughout.

Neptune Oyster represents the pinnacle of intimate Boston dining, where Kelli and Jeff's personal hospitality creates an atmosphere both sophisticated and welcoming. Walk-ins are welcome, and the restaurant is open daily.
