The Knave of Clubs

Opening its door for the first time in 30 years, the Knave of Clubs, sitting on the corner of Bethnal Green Road and Club Row, is back bringing Guinness, oysters and rotisserie chicken to the Shoreditch punters once more. Alongside the pub, sitting upstairs is One Club Row, the pub's tribute to New York hospitality, offering epic lunches and dinners, and two private dining rooms. The Grade II listed building previously closed its doors as a pub in 1994, later reopening as Les Trois Garcons restaurant for a number of years and was briefly a Dirty Bones outlet, before co-founders James Dye, of the Camberwell Arms, and Benjy Leibowitz, of NoMad and JKS, returned the building to its roots and original name. The duo have also brought in renown chef Patrick Powell for the pubs revival. Powell has previously worked at the Midland Grand, Allegra and the Chiltern Firehouse and is now culinary director at the Knave. The pub splits into two offerings, with a traditional East End boozer downstairs, with the focus on food from the rotisserie grill, while One Club Row will offer a more refined dining experience taking cues from New York taverns alongside French bistros and brasseries - and it's already attracting rave reviews. The pub also teamed up with the newly relaunched Allsopp's Brewery, which previously owned the pub back in the 1930s, and has been part of the relaunch initiative for the well-known Double Diamond brand. Alongside the reimagined classic lager brand, Guinness will be flowing alongside a list of classic cocktails, a short, but imaginative wine list and pre-batched negronis.
