Nipponian Room

Nipponian Room is the Japanese dining room at Ayan Zalaat Hotel & Spa, set on the terrace level of the hotel at the southern edge of Ulaanbaatar. Its menu is organized around three clear formats: a sushi bar, live teppanyaki and seasonal a la carte dishes. The hotel says its sashimi is flown in fresh, while the teppanyaki station brings the cooking directly into the dining room.

The interior uses pale timber latticework, paper-style lanterns and broad windows looking toward the hills of Zalaat Valley. In addition to the main room and counter seating, the restaurant has private dining rooms, including a traditional low-table room designed for business dinners and private gatherings. An outdoor terrace extends the experience into the surrounding landscape.

This is a hotel restaurant, but it is presented as a distinct dining destination rather than an all-day hotel outlet. The combination of sushi, teppanyaki, private rooms and a serene valley setting makes it best suited to dinner, special occasions and groups that want a more private service format.
