Larmandier-Bernier is a family Champagne estate in Vertus, with its identity grounded in vineyard farming and the differences among Côte des Blancs sites. Pierre and Sophie Larmandier's range includes Latitude, Longitude and Terre de Vertus, alongside Rosé de Saignée and the still Pinot Noir wine Vertus Rouge.
From vineyard to cask
The estate says it has farmed biodynamically since 1999 and held organic certification since 2003. Chardonnay dominates its vineyards, with smaller plantings of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. After gentle pressing, indigenous-yeast fermentation begins spontaneously in Stockinger casks and vats. These choices give the individual wines a stronger sense of origin than a single house-wide recipe would.
Visiting Vertus
Visits to the estate at 19 avenue du Général de Gaulle are by appointment. The family welcomes visitors on weekday mornings, Monday through Friday. Contact them before planning a trip; the estate does not publish an open-door tasting schedule.
