The Good Food Guide

The Good Food Guide is Britain's oldest continuously published restaurant guide, and its methodology has remained remarkably consistent since Raymond Postgate founded it in 1951: anonymous inspectors pay their own way, dine as regular customers, and report back honestly. When a restaurant appears in the Guide, it has been independently verified by someone who experienced it exactly as you would—no advance notice, no complimentary meals, no special treatment. The guide covers over 1,200 restaurants, pubs, and cafés across Great Britain, with the scoring system running from 'Local Gem' (good neighborhood spots) to 'Internationally prominent' (a notable option in the country). No restaurant can pay for inclusion. That principle has held for over seven decades, making the Guide among the more trustworthy consumer resources in UK dining.
