The Bvlgari Yacht Club sits on Jumeira Bay Island like a particularly glamorous Bond villain’s lair, offering Mediterranean charm, Italian food and the sort of seafaring fantasy where the only pirates are the ones setting the prices. Famed Italian chef Niko Romito is the culinary admiral here, and much like its Bvlgari counterpart, Il Ristorante – Niko Romito, oversees the menu at the Yacht Club, which the chef de cuisine, Andrea Gurzi, executes with elegance in Romito’s absence. The setting is charming – all sea breezes, sun-dappled tables and yearning glances at the yachts. Meanwhile, the seafood here is displayed with the reverence usually reserved for crown jewels or championship racehorses. Try turbot salad with anchovies and Sorrento lemon, or the plump pink pepper-marinated red prawns. And with the raw seafood platter, you’ll receive a notable option in Dubai, but, like all great things, it’s priced as if it comes with a small share in the yacht outside. As you’d expect from Bvlgari, the bill is a work of modern art: AED700 for the two-person seafood platter, with mains that start at “expensive” and end at “your banker will be in touch”. But every dirham buys you a taste of Romito’s exemplary craft, where each dish is both a flex and a flourish. The grill is a novelty, lending a smoky aroma to dishes like chitarrina all’uovo con sugo di astice. Meanwhile, sweet wines pair well with classic tiramisu or warm brioche cake with pistachio ice cream – enjoy while sipping on a crafted cocktail during Bvlgari’s signature Aperitivo Hour.
