Latvia luxury dining and travel destination
Latvia has 2 Michelin-starred restaurants in our guide, both in Riga: Max Cekot Kitchen in Torņakalns, on the edge of the city, and JOHN Chef's Hall in Centrs. The country has 92 venues in our guide, and 77 of them are in Riga, including tasting-menu restaurants, wine bars, hotel dining rooms, and kitchens with Michelin Plate or Bib Gourmand recognition. In Līgatne, Pavāru māja holds a Michelin Plate and an exceptional wine programme, and the tasting menu draws on its own garden and on Līgatne farmers. In Cēsis center, Kest serves a five-course tasting menu and has held a Michelin Plate for three consecutive years. In Cēsis old town, H.E. Vanadziņš serves modern regional Latvian cooking with a wine list. In Dubulti, 36.Line holds a Michelin Plate and a sommelier-led list.

Michelin stars and a Michelin Plate in Riga

Latvia has 2 Michelin-starred restaurants in our guide, both in Riga: Max Cekot Kitchen in Torņakalns, on the edge of the city, and JOHN Chef's Hall in Centrs. Entresol in Centrs holds a Michelin Plate.

  • Max Cekot Kitchen

In Torņakalns, Max Cekot Kitchen holds a Michelin star and runs a surprise tasting menu shaped by Latvian seasonal produce. Its exceptional wine programme and sommelier-led service place it among Riga’s most serious dining rooms, with a format built around long-course dining and table-side finishing.

  • JOHN Chef's Hall

In Centrs, JOHN Chef's Hall combines a Michelin star with an intimate 20-seat tasting menu format. The bespoke pairing is part of the room’s appeal, alongside the direct view of the kitchen pass and the seasonally driven Latvian menu.

  • Entresol

Entresol in Centrs holds a Michelin Plate in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 guides. Chef Raimonds Zommers cooks modern French food with Latvian products. The menu includes knapas, small snacks. A tasting menu and small plates are both served.

Wine bars and serious lists

Riga holds the strongest cluster of wine-led venues in Latvia. The best-known rooms are in Centrs and Vecpilsēta, where specialist bars and wine-forward restaurants sit close together.

  • Wine Collectors

In Centrs, Wine Collectors is a wine shop and bar with an exceptional programme and a 2026 Star Wine List award. It is run by Raimonds Tomsons, ASI Best Sommelier of the World 2023, and Agnese Gintere, Best Sommelier of Latvia 2017. Sustainable wines from small producers make up the selection.

  • Noble Wine Bar

Noble Wine Bar in Centrs held Star Wine List recognition in 2023 and 2026, and a Falstaff Wine Bar listing in 2026. It pours conventional wine, with over 80 wines by the glass, and the food is made to complement the wines.

  • Truff Le Pig

Also in Centrs, Truff Le Pig is a natural wine and grower champagne bar with an exceptional wine programme. It held Star Wine List recognition in 2023 and 2026, and a Falstaff Wine Bar listing in 2026. The list has been awarded Best Wine Bar Wine List in the Baltics.

Regional dining beyond Riga

The strongest dining outside Riga is concentrated in a few compact cities and resort areas. These rooms are defined by tasting menus, local produce, and recognised wine programmes.

In Līgatne, Pavāru māja holds a Michelin Plate across three consecutive years and Star Wine List awards in 2025 and 2026. It runs a tasting menu and an exceptional wine programme with an extensive wine list. The kitchen cooks nose-to-tail, using ingredients from its own garden and from Līgatne farmers.

Value-led dining with strong cellar work

Latvia’s value tier is still serious about wine and technique. In Riga especially, Bib Gourmand and Plate venues give travellers a clear route into the scene without losing cellar focus.

  • Snatch

The kitchen cooks modern Italian food, including house-made pastas, from an open kitchen. The menu is a la carte and family style. The wine programme is extensive, with craft cocktails.

COD restaurant in Riga

Riga, Latvia

COD

Three consecutive Michelin Plates (2024–2026) confirm COD's position among Rīga's most consistent kitchens. The restaurant brings Japanese Contemporary cooking to the Latvian capital at a mid-range price point, drawing on the discipline of ingredient-led Japanese technique while working within a Baltic context. On Tērbatas iela in central Rīga, it represents a relatively rare format for the city: serious Japanese-influenced cooking without the premium pricing of the starred tier.
