The opening of a new spa hotel is always a big event in a small town. Its name––the Wasa––references a famous ship of the same name that long ago brought visitors to Pärnu. With a something-for-everyone attitude, the kitchen aims to cater to as many preferences as possible; simple, straight-forward street food favorites, as well as a menu of modern dishes, predominantly based on local ingredients and Asian-inspired flourishes.

Pan-fried prawns are served with marinated local vegetables and complemented with wakame and nori. You’ll find many of the creations have familiar, yet exotic flavors. Wasa is definitely worth a visit, but time will tell whether the initial meeting will turn into a close friendship or a distanced acquaintance.
