How this list is chosen: Restaurants holding Michelin stars, listed alphabetically. Updated October 8, 2026.
Casa 201
1 Michelin star
Casa 201 earned a Michelin star in 2025, placing it among Rio's most decorated French kitchens. Located on Rua Lopes Quintas in Jardim Botânico, the address signals something important: this is fine dining shaped by a residential, tree-lined neighbourhood rather than the hotel corridors or beachfront spectacle that anchor much of the city's upper-end scene. Chef João Paulo Frankenfeld leads the kitchen at the $$$$ price point.
Lasai
2 Michelin stars
Lasai holds two Michelin stars, a place on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list, and the title of Best Restaurant in Brazil 2024. Chef Rafa Costa e Silva's 15-course tasting menu, fed by two private gardens, runs just 10 guests around a single L-shaped counter in Humaitá. This is Rio's most decorated modern restaurant, and among the more precisely considered dining formats in South America.
Madame Olympe
1 Michelin star
Madame Olympe brings Rio’s high-end dining conversation back to ingredient discipline: Brazilian produce, French technique, an eight-course format, and a 24-seat room in Leblon. The draw is not formality for its own sake, but the way Troisgros’s lineage and Jessica Trindade’s long kitchen tenure are used to frame local sourcing with restraint.
Mee
1 Michelin star
Mee holds consecutive Michelin stars (2024 and 2025) for its Asian-influenced menu along Copacabana's Avenida Atlântica. Under chef Jean-François Rouquette, the kitchen operates in a register distinct from Rio's Brazilian-focused fine dining tier, drawing from pan-Asian culinary traditions at a $$$$ price point.
Oro
2 Michelin stars
Oro brings two Michelin stars to Leblon's dining strip, where Felipe Bronze works a contemporary register that draws on Italian technique and Brazilian ingredients in equal measure. Consistently ranked among South America's top restaurants by Opinionated About Dining and La Liste, it operates Tuesday through Saturday on Av. Gen. San Martin, a short walk from the beach, a longer commitment at the table.
Oseille
1 Michelin star
Oseille holds a Michelin star (2025) and operates from a 16-seat counter in Ipanema, where Thomas Troisgros runs a tasting menu that draws on French classical training and Brazilian ingredient intelligence. Reservations require advance planning.
Oteque
1 Michelin star · Deep wine list
Oteque places Rio’s contemporary dining conversation in a sharper register: tasting-menu discipline, seafood-led Modern Brazilian cooking, and international recognition without turning Botafogo into a stage set. Alberto Landgraf’s restaurant carries a Michelin star for 2025, La Liste points, and repeat appearances on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants extended list, making it a serious reference point for a high-budget Rio dinner.
San Omakase
1 Michelin star
Rio de Janeiro's only Michelin-starred Japanese counter, San Omakase holds back-to-back stars for 2024 and 2025 and sits at the sharp end of Leblon's fine-dining corridor.
