Glazed Donut Works
Our verdict
"Glazed Donut Works, Deep Ellum. Mondays and Tuesdays used to be okay, until those became known as the days that Glazed Donut Works is not open. The key to a successful Glazing experience is to check their hours. One, you get the freshest donuts. Two, you don't want to get there late - they sell out of flavors fast! Glazed has everything from a classic old fashioned buttermilk donut - for the purist, to a maple bacon donut for the carnivore, to an apple cobbler donut for someone who, well, has better metabolism than I do. Stop in regularly and try their ever changing list of flavors. Stop in after a dinner or drinks night in Deep Ellum late night on weekends (from 10:30 pm - 2 am) and kick your hangover before it even begins! You won't have trouble finding it - just look for the bright pink sign."

Deep Ellum's late-night food scene has always rewarded the well-timed arrival, and Glazed Donut Works operates on exactly that logic. The shop keeps irregular hours, closed Mondays and Tuesdays, open late on weekends, and sells out before closing more often than not. Checking the schedule before making the trip is not a courtesy suggestion; it is the difference between a fresh doughnut and an empty case.
Glazed opened in 2013 as part of the neighborhood's broader revival, positioning itself among Deep Ellum's arts venues and late-night spots as one of the area's first gourmet doughnut operations. The format is specialty shop rather than sit-down restaurant: rotating flavors, unconventional combinations, and a griddled doughnut sandwich built with egg, sausage, bacon, and cheese that speaks directly to the post-midnight crowd the district draws. Doughnuts run in the $3–$4 range, which keeps the transaction low-stakes even when the flavors are not.
The practical calculus here is simple. Arrive early enough in the day or late enough at night that the case is still stocked. The shop's reputation in Dallas is built less on formal recognition than on consistency within a narrow, well-defined scope: fresh product, a short window to get it, and a neighborhood context that makes the detour make sense on its own terms.
