Tienen, Belgium
Melchior holds a Michelin star in Tienen, Belgium, with chef Gilles Melchior applying classical French technique to regional produce. The kitchen sits within the Jong Keukengeweld generation of Belgian fine dining, with dishes ranging from Zeeland clams and Merus crab to sweetbreads with Comté. Priced at the €€€€ tier and recognised by Star Wine List, it represents one ambitious table in this mid-Brabant market town.
Tienen, Belgium
A Michelin Plate-recognised farm-to-table address in Tienen, De Refugie grounds its cooking in traditional Belgian technique and regional sourcing, with a vegetarian menu that has moved from afterthought to front-of-house statement.
Tienen, Belgium
On a quiet street in Tienen's modest city centre, Cotto represents the kind of neighbourhood restaurant that Flemish Brabant does quietly well: a focused kitchen, a local following, and a sense of place that larger cities often trade away for volume. For visitors working through the region's dining options, it sits between the farm-forward simplicity of De Refugie and the formal ambition of Melchior.
Tienen, Belgium
Fidalgo occupies a quiet address on Outgaardenstraat in Tienen, a Flemish Brabant town better known for its sugar-beet industry than its restaurant scene. What draws attention here is the contrast: a considered dining room in a city where serious tables are few, positioned between the farm-to-table economy of places like De Refugie and the formal French register of Melchior.
