If you’ve never heard of Majas, and just stop by for a bite to eat (if it happens to be open and there’s space, that is), you’ll be surprised. The place looks like, well... a bit of a dive. About

If you’ve never heard of Majas, and just stop by for a bite to eat (if it happens to be open and there’s space, that is), you’ll be surprised. The place looks like, well... a bit of a dive.

But you couldn’t be farther wrong about this, um, let’s call it multi-establishment. If there isn’t a run-around-the-table ping pong tournament going on, or a wedding dinner, this is a well known rock stage, particularly in the summer. Actually, this is probably a rock club.

But with food. Good food. If the weather’s warm, staff can turn up barefoot and serve you an amuse that makes the white tablecloth stand to attention – even if we’re talking about wooden tables and benches outdoors.

Majas is a happy collision between a relaxed hangout near the beach at Apelviken and musically well-tuned dishes – always organic, always locally produced. Sausage roll of lamb from their own farm, veal from ‘the neighbour’ and venison from Ulvered deer reserve are all cooked with care, to perfection. Not bad for a rock club.
