Pyongyang, North Korea
Taedonggang Beer Brewery Bar
In a city where access itself is the rarest currency, the Taedonggang Beer Brewery Bar represents one of the few spaces where foreign visitors can sit alongside local Pyongyang residents over a shared glass. The bar serves Taedonggang beer, North Korea's domestically brewed lager, in a setting that functions as both state enterprise and genuine gathering place, an unusual combination by any standard.
