Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen opened this lodge as part of his intensive, extensive investments into his adoptive home of Scotland, which he’s dubbed Wildland. Helicopter transfers in Scotland require the permission of the landowner, which often stymies that convenience but it’s not an issue here—Povlsen is the country’s largest landowner, with an estimated 220,000 acres across 13 estates. Wix raves about the exclusive-use property, and how it’s operated more like a country estate you’d borrow from a friend than a conventional hotel. It was designed by Cecilé & Boyd, best known for its work with Singita, so think of this as a Scottish safari lodge, with guides as connected to the natural surroundings as many trackers would be. “They immerse you in the landscape through everything from hiking, foraging, and biking to sound bath sessions and conservation sessions,” says Henry Cookson, who calls out the spectacular Hope River’s fly-fishing as among the stronger in the country.
